ABOUT KUR

  • Philadelphia has come to be known as the “land of the spitters,” where artists can differentiate themselves by out-rapping the competition.

For KUR (pronounced “Core”), he’s been a conversation starter within the city’s hip-hop networks.

  • The Beginning

In the summer of 2019 KUR dropped ShaKUR, which lead singles “Crack,” and “Soul” featuring Mozzy, helped the album reach over 10M combined streams on Apple Music and Spotify.

In November 2019, he surprise released "Spare Me" which reached #14 on Apple Music’s Hip-Hop/Rap chart, #20 on its All Genres chart and prompted Meek Mill to proclaim KUR “the soul of Philly.”

  • THURL & Beyond

In 2024, KUR released his latest album - THURL - completely independent with no machine or co-sign to back it.

The project is a journey through KUR’s maturity over the past couple of years, completely focusing on his music with no distractions and more patience. The album charted in the top 10 in overall genres and seventh in hip-hop/rap on Apple Music.

The year 2024 further proved to be successful for KUR as he also balanced other opportunities.

  • Throughout the year he toured around the United States to encourage voter registration in partnership with BET Vote Fest, #iVoted Concerts, NextGen America, Headcount and Drive Agency. KUR's shows also featured artists including Westside Boogie, Kash Doll, A Boogie Wit Dat Hoodie, JT, Luh Tyler, Karraboo and more.

He also made a surprise visit to his alma matter, Saul High School, to help encourage attendance by gifting 450 students school supplies, backpacks and t-shirts.

  • A Message from KUR

Man I want to start this off by saying, I’m grateful but life has been crazy.

I got a lot of success from my album “THURL.” I started to experience things I’ve never been through on a different level. I used to think I was hot and popping but nah, once “Thurl” dropped everything changed, good and bad.

  • On “ SKIP DA 8” I wanted to bring y'all into my world and update y’all on where I’m at in life right now. First thing first - when you start at the “7 And Skip The 8” you get 79. So from that side it’s about me staying true to myself. From a different angle, it’s skipping all the negativity, boxes they may try to put us in, bad vibes, anything that ain’t thurl, doubt, fear, second guessing, hating, drama … I can go on and on.

  • So when you skipping the 8 you’re staying true to yourself and skipping anything that’s not good for your soul or anything that’s not helping you grow. It took a few months to finish “Skip Da 8” and I’m excited to finally share it with y'all, thank y’all for always supporting me. Appreciate every single one of y'all forever.
